🌍 Alarming Health Disparities for Black & Indigenous Families 🌍

Black and Indigenous communities face significant health inequities rooted in systemic racism, historical injustices, and lack of access to care. Here’s what we need to address:

💔 Chronic Diseases:

Black families: Higher rates of diabetes, hypertension, & heart disease.

Indigenous families: 2.3x higher rates of diabetes & obesity.

🤰🏽 Maternal & Infant Mortality:

Black women are 3–4x more likely to die from pregnancy complications.

Indigenous women face double the national maternal mortality rate.

🧠 Mental Health:

Black individuals often lack access to mental health care, despite higher rates of PTSD & depression.

Indigenous communities: Suicide rates 3.5x the national average in young adults.

🏥 Access to Care:

Black families: Urban healthcare deserts.

Indigenous families: Rural isolation + underfunded healthcare programs.

⚠️ Environmental Hazards:

Both communities face higher exposure to air & water pollution, leading to chronic illnesses.

This is not just a health crisis—it’s a call for equity. We need policies, care, & resources that prioritize these communities’ well-being. 🖤❤️
