PRACTICE DOCTOR

The Practice Doctor works under the supervision of the Leading Practice Doctor. The Practice Doctor manages patient care, remedies and monitors patient wellness. The Practice Doctor also serves as a Patient Care Advocate.

EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE SPECIFICATIONS:

  • Graduate degree and specialized training in holistic medicine.
  • Must have maintained professional development through activities such as post-graduate education, continuing education, preceptorships, and/or residency programs.
  • Minimum of one year of holistic medicine practice experience working with people in a medical office environment.
  • Must be willing to interact with patients in a caring and professional manner.
  • Must be available to work some late nights and weekends as needed.
  • Upholds HIPAA regulations and compliance initiatives.
  • Ability to chart with accuracy and attention to details.
  • Must be proficient with technology and working with DrChrono, an electronic health records software.
  • Self-starter and be able to work with minimal supervision the majority of the time.
  • Competent with the following software: MS Word & Excel, Google Drive and GMAIL in a Windows environment.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks at the same time; detailed oriented skills required.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Proven track record in positive relationship building with community members and other practice doctors.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.

FUNCTIONAL SCOPE:

The Practice Doctor is responsible for reviewing laboratory results, determining treatment plans, recommending remedies and monitoring patient outcomes.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (Essential Job Function *)

  • Reviews patient medical records and vitals post in-take.
  • Evaluates patients’ health and well-being; updates medical charts.
  • Consults with patients to discuss required laboratory examinations and results; generates laboratory orders.
  • Develops treatment plans and monitors progress with patients.
  • Administers, dispenses, or prescribes natural remedies or medicines such as food or botanical extracts, herbs, nutraceuticals, and homeopathic remedies.
  • Inputs patient data into an Electronic Health Record (EHR) as needed.
  • Consults and collaborates with other doctors on medical cases.
  • Distributes educational information to patients as needed.
  • Extends remarkable customer services to all patients, practice members and staff.
  • Serves as Patient Care advocate.
  • Abides by HIPAA laws regarding sharing of personal medical information.
  • Builds positive rapport with patients, doctors, community members and others in a professional setting.
  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Physical Conditions

The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderate as the employee works in an office environment, uses a computer. Employees are required to work mornings and afternoons as required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While performing the duties of this job, the Practice Doctor regularly is required to use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools or equipment; walk, stoop, kneel; talk or hear. The Practice Doctor must be able to lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Must be able to spend long hours sitting, and/or standing.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fraction, and percent’s, decimals, discounts, and cash counting.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to understand medical terminology and carry out detailed and objective written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Ability to gather data, compile information, and prepare reports.

Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.

Other Skills and Abilities:

The Practice Doctor must be able to remain calm under pressure and communicate effectively when dealing with guests, practice members, staff, equipment problems, or emergency situations.
